Mondraker F-Play 24: a full-suspension electric mountain bike made for young riders
Mahle X30 motor and 250 Wh battery: smooth, confidence-building assistance
The F-Play 24 runs a Mahle X30 drive unit, a compact and quiet system that adds to the pedal stroke instead of overwhelming a young rider. The Mahle iX250 250 Wh battery is built into the frame, keeping the lines clean, the weight centred and the total at 17.4 kg. An iWoc ONE main unit sits on the top tube, so modes change with one finger and both hands stay on the bar.
Zero suspension system: 120 mm of travel front and rear
The hydroformed 6061 Stealth Alloy Evo frame borrows the Zero suspension layout and one-piece upper link from full-size Mondrakers. Up front, the X-Fusion Slant RC 26 air fork gives 120 mm of travel on 34 mm stanchions, with lockout and rebound adjustment; at the rear, the X-Fusion O2PRO R shock in 165x42.5 mm works over the same 120 mm. Roots, ledges and braking bumps simply stop pushing the bike off line.
Shimano MT501 brakes and Maxxis Minion tires: grown-up spec, kid-sized
The Shimano MT501 hydraulic disc brakes, with 180 mm rotors and alloy Servo Wave levers, ask very little hand strength while keeping real stopping bite. Maxxis Minion DHF 24x2.4 front and DHR II 24x2.3 rear tires sit on tubeless-ready MDK-HP1 24 TLR rims for serious grip in loose dirt. A 12-speed Sram S100 Eagle drivetrain, 150 mm cranks and a 100 mm X-Fusion Manic LC dropper post round out a build with no shortcuts.
Who it is for: young riders who want to keep up on the trail
The F-Play 24 suits kids who are already comfortable on two wheels and ready to link climbs at Bromont, Sutton or Mount Royal without getting dropped by the rest of the family. It comes in a single version, the Rubycore build, on 24-inch wheels with a 680 mm MDK XC 1.0 bar, a short 30 mm stem and an SDG Fly JR saddle for a compact, in-control position. Among our electric mountain bikes, it is one of the few genuinely scaled down for younger riders.
